The 2015 Warrnambool Classic (450m) series got underway on Tuesday night with Shared Equity’s narrow defeat of the brilliant Dewana Result among the highlights.
Shared Equity began brilliantly and opened up a comfortable lead before Dewana Result, who is the current 460m track record holder at Warragul, almost reeled her in.
The Angela Langton-trained Shared Equity stopped the clock at 24.873sec, just a length short of Phenomenal’s 24.829sec track record.
12 Warrnambool Classic heats were run on Tuesday night, with a further seven heats to be conducted tonight.
All 19 heat winners and the 13 fastest 2nd placegetters will make it through to next Wednesday’s semi-finals. The $75,000 to-the-winner final will be held on May 6.
