This is the 52nd running of the Warrnambool Cup, with the first winner being Tien Shan in 1972. Many outstanding greyhounds have won the event including Tempix (1980), Bomber Gleeson (1992), Kantarn Bale (2000 & 2002), El Galo (2008), Black Magic Opal (2014) and Dyna Patty (2019).
